Just another School visit?
Endal and I were invited to a special needs school to do a meet and greet day. The school was going to be presented with a Cheque given by the Royal Navy and to help raise the profile of the event we had been asked along. Endal had been on top form all the previous week so I agreed to attend.
I knew it was going to be a special day when we arrived at the school and the children glimpsed Endal. The excitement in the children was obvious and made attending so worth while.
We started off by touring around the class rooms meeting each child, showing and telling them what Endal does to help me. We give out Endal's autograph cards and the children come up one at a time to have it stamped by Endal's paw print (Ink stamp).
It was while we were in one of the class rooms a little girls voice boomed out, "can Endal come up and give me a kiss?". I turned to see a little girl hunched up in her wheelchair, her head hanging down. With out thinking I said "yes if she sat up" (I was worried that Endal would knock her head if she didn't sit back). Her mum tapped me on the shoulder and said that her daughter had Cerabal Palsy and couldn't sit up. Little did she know!
There wasn't a dry eye in the room when that little voice boomed out again "ready", yes in that split second she had sat up with her head held high. Her mother nearly fainted. The group of Navy guys and girls in uniform were trying to hide there emotions, I was not so successful. The little girl wanted Endal to give her a kiss and would do anything to achieve that.
Endal and I were the only ones to notice that down the side of her little face was a trace of breakfast, he quickly jumped up putting his front paws on her wheelchair table and then gave her a real enthusiastic kissing ( her reward). After the kissing her little face was spotless and that is to be our little secret.
Her mother then asked if they should get her a dog having just witnessed the miracle, I couldn't answer that one. But I had just seen the power of Endal once again wielding his unique magic.
You might think it ends there but no…. Later on in the visit he snuggled up to an autistic child and won a smile. Not so amazing till you hear that the child had never smiled . Because Endal had attended the event the local press appeared and one of the photographers caught that smile, Yes!
Two very special moments in one day

"In life you've got to want what you have and not what you could have"
Wise words and so true
